Minced Pork, Shrimp, Green Kale paired with Nyonya Pickled Vegetable, slice fresh ginger in black bean vinegar and sambal
Mmm… the Chicken Rice reminds me so much of the chicken rice from Singapore, but better. The rice is so flavourful, the chicken so tender and the sauce is to die for. The mixture of ginger sauce, chilli sauce and soya sauce is so quintessential to this dish and Esther’s sauce really excels. The fresh ginger taste brought so much character to the dish. This dish can be served in Singapore anytime and it will give the local stores a run for their money.
I had my first experience with nasi lemak and absolutely loved it. Every element on the plate felt thoughtfully prepared and beautifully balanced.
The homemade sambal was the standout—rich, flavorful and perfectly spiced, tying everything together without overpowering the dish. The chicken was tender, juice and full of flavor, clearly made with care.
Paired with the fragrant rice, crunchy anchovies, peanuts and fresh cucumber, every bite had a wonderful mix of textures and taste. Such a comforting and satisfying meal—I’ll definitely be coming back for more.
Miss Woon's Nasi Lemak is one of those rare finds that instantly transports me back home to Malaysia. The fragrant coconut rice sets the foundation, rich and aromatic, and perfectly complemented by crispy fried anchovies and peanuts that add just the right crunch and saltiness to every bite.
The highlight, without question, is the Chicken Kunyit that comes with the Nasi Lemak, something that's surprisingly hard to come by these days unless you hunt it down in a proper Nyonya spot in places like Penang or Melaka. And then there's the sambal chili sauce, tying everything together with a beautiful balance of heat and depth.
I won't overdescribe it, but trust me, it's a must-try.
